AI Policy for reviewers
Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) by Reviewers
The Iraqi Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences (IJPS) is committed to maintaining the confidentiality, integrity, and independence of the peer-review process.
Reviewers are entrusted with confidential information and are expected to use it solely for the purpose of evaluating the submitted manuscript. Manuscripts, supplementary materials, reviewer reports, editorial correspondence, and all related documents must be treated as strictly confidential and must not be disclosed or shared with any unauthorized individual or third party.
Reviewers must not upload any portion of a manuscript, supplementary files, reviewer comments, editorial correspondence, or other confidential materials to generative artificial intelligence (AI) systems (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, or similar AI tools) or any external service that processes or stores user-submitted content. Such use may compromise the confidentiality of unpublished research, infringe upon authors' intellectual property rights, and, where applicable, violate data protection and privacy regulations.
The use of AI tools for drafting, editing, summarizing, translating, or improving reviewer reports is also prohibited if it requires the disclosure of confidential manuscript content or editorial communications.
Reviewers are expected to prepare their evaluations independently, relying solely on their own scientific expertise and professional judgment. If a reviewer believes that AI assistance is necessary for any aspect of the review process, prior written approval must be obtained from the Editorial Office before using any such tool.
IJPS reserves the right to update this policy as artificial intelligence technologies and international publishing standards continue to evolve.
