GUIDELINES FOR AUTHORS
Types of paper
The journal is accepting original research articles or review articles. Please select the appropriate article type from the list of options when making your submission. Authors contributing to special issues should ensure that they select the special issue article type from the list.
Submission checklist
Please use the following list to carry out a final check of your submission before you send it to the journal for review.
- The manuscript should not be previously published nor submitted to other journals.
- The submission file is in Microsoft Word.
- The manuscript should be written in English language.
- The English abstract should not exceed 350 words in addition to Arabic Abstract
- The references should be recent and 50% of them are within the last five years.
- References written in English language should be with Vancouver Citing & Referencing style.
- The Authors declaration, submission request and cover letter (available in the Author Guidelines section) should be submitted.
- All authors should provide their ORCID ID (https://orcid.org/register)
- Authors should submit a cover letter.
- If the work involves animal study, the author/s should provide a signed animal welfare statement https://bijps.uobaghdad.edu.iq/index.php/bijps/Animal.
- If the work involves human participants or human data, authors are required to sign and provide the following ethical approval form:

Manuscript:
The manuscript is including the body of manuscript, all figures (include relevant captions), and all tables (including titles, description, footnotes). Ensure all figure and table are mentioned and cited in the corresponding text. The manuscript should be 'spell checked' and 'grammar checked'. All references mentioned in the Reference List are cited in the text, and vice versa. Permission has been obtained for use of copyrighted material from other sources (including the Internet). Relevant declarations of interest and Journal policies detailed in this guide have been reviewed. Referee suggestions and contact details provided, based on journal requirements.
Hazards and Human / Animal Subjects
1-Human rights
Any work that involves human subjects, it is the responsibility of the authors to make sure that the work does not pose any risk or threat to the human subjects and the work should be approved by the institutional ethical committee.

2- Animals rights
The animal study should be carried out according to the ethics relating to the use of these animals in the scientific work. Therefore the authors should provide the corresponding signed ethical form.

Authors should clearly indicate in the manuscript that such guidelines have been followed.
INSTRUCTION TO AUTHORS
Iraqi Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences (IJPS) publishes papers on various aspects of pharmaceutical and medical science. IJPS is a fully open access journal. click here
1-The journal publishes the articles that submitted by researchers, which then subjected to the evaluation. Articles are falling into one of the following two groups:
- Original research work containing basic or practical results. The total words count in the research paper should not exceed5000 words.
- Review article. The total number of words in the review should not exceed 10000 words and the total number of references should not less than 70 reference.
2-The manuscript should be typed, single-spaced on standard-sized-paper (8.5" x 11") with" margins on all sides according to the Journal template .
3-The manuscript should be in English and electronically submitted to the Iraqi journal Pharmaceutical Sciences involving the following information:
- Title, name, address of author (s).
- Name and address of the corresponding author (Phone number , E-mail address)
- A short running title (should not exceed 50 characters).
- Abstract typed separately “as one paragraph “in both languages not exceeding 350 words.
- Keywords.
- Introduction
- Materials and methods
- Results
- Discussion
The discussion can be included within results in certain circumstances. - Conclusion should be a brief paragraph that summarizes the findings presented.
- Acknowledgment
You may mention if the research is abstracted from M.Sc. or Ph.D. thesis - Conflicts of Interest
- Funding
- Ethics statements
- Author contribution
- References
4-All the scientific abbreviations should be mentioned in full which first referred to in paper; otherwise the SI units and their abbreviations should always be used.
5-Figures, graphs, legend and tables, should be drawn and typed carefully and clearly within their required position in the manuscript.
6-References should be numbered “superscript font “ in one consecutive series by the order of appearance in the text.
7-The list of references should be arranged numerically according to their appearance in the text and they should be written according Vancouver style as follows :
a-Journals articles: Name of the author(s), article title, name of the journal, year, volume(issue ), and the first and last page.
b-Books: Name of author(s), name of the book, edition, editor (publisher), place of publication, year, and the first and last page of the chapter.
c-50% of references are recent and are within the last five years .
8-Authors are required to send a cover letter along with the manuscript undertaking that, "manuscript has not been published so far/communicated to some other journal”
9-The editorial board of the journal check the plagiarism of research submitted for publication using iThenticate program.
10-The manuscript is sent for peer-review (at least three reviewers) via open journal system in order to gain their insight and suggestions.
11-The revised manuscript should be re-submitted as soon as possible, and the revised manuscript should contain a marked change.
12-All manuscript accepted for publications must be approved by referees and revised by the editorial board. The editorial board reserves the right to ask for modifications of the text by the authors.
